Where is Miyagi prefecture? TOHOKU BROADCASTING COMPANY is located in Miyagi prefecture, which is 300km northeast of Tokyo and takes two hours to reach by Shinkansen(super express).Miyagi's capital city, Sendai, is located at 145 degrees east longitude, and 38 degrees north latitude. The area of Miyagi is about 7300km2,and the population is 2,360,000(1999). Sendai's population is about 1 million. Miyagi,including Sendai is rich with nature. Sendai city is full of greens and is called "the city of trees". Also in Miyagi is Matsushima, which is considered one of the three greatest views in Japan. Many people visit this spot from all over Japan. It consists of many island ranges and you can enjoy Japanese style scenery. With the Pacific ocean on the east it provides an abundant fishing ground. Kesennuma and Ishinomaki are two of Japan's most prominent fishing ports.On the west mountains, Zao, Kurikoma, and Funaganta show beautiful red leaves in autumn and in the central part of Miyagi is a fertile grain belt. Since then we broadcast Miyagi's news in full detail as also TV station from 1959 because it's a key station of Japan Radio Network, National Radio Network and Japan News Network.
